44 new doctoral dissertations and an ambassador for the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

On February 7, the new PhD graduates from the FSA were prominently featured in Lecture Hall 604 during the University of Liège’s annual ceremony honoring PhD graduates. And for good reason: with 44 doctoral dissertations defended in 2025, the FSA has established itself as one of the faculties awarding the most doctoral degrees at ULiège. The doctoral programs cover a very broad range of specialties and reflect the FSA’s dynamism.

The ceremony also introduced three new ambassadors for the University of Liège, including Stéphanie Van Loo, a biomedical engineer and herself a Ph.D. graduate of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Now CEO and CTO of the spin-off LiveDrop , which she founded, Stéphanie Van Loo applies the advances resulting from her research in microfluidics to the field of healthcare. The technologies she develops open up major opportunities in fields such as the discovery of therapeutic antibodies, oncology, immunology, and cell therapy. Her testimony, marked by profound humanity, served as a true inspiration to all the new PhDs now called upon to chart their own paths.
