The research in materials for electrical engineering aims at understanding and predicting the electrical and magnetic performances of materials in order to create innovative solutions in the areas of electric power, energy conversion, transmission and storage, microelectronics and sensors.

he electrical engineering materials investigated range from conductors to insulators and include : superconductors (bulks, tapes and films), thermoelectrics, semiconductors, conducting and insulating polymers, insulating and functional ceramics, conducting textiles, magnetic and magnetocaloric materials.

The research combines an experimental approach (development of sensitive measurement techniques for materials characterization) to a modelling approach (development of numerical methods and algorithms based on finite elements, semi-analytical methods and theoretical modelling).
